Happy Home Designer sprung out of the development team thinking about interior design in New Leaf and other previous entries in the series. It was decided to make a game based around interior design after the development team wanted to share the lives of villagers with the player. The developers had considered adding a budget limit to the game, but it was decided that it was a better decision to not impose any external limitations on the player's design choices. The game integrates with Animal Crossing Amiibo cards; scanning cards allows their respective character to visit a home that a player had designed, and allows players to design homes for other major characters such as K.K. With there being many villagers, there are many different tasks you can do. Another big nitpick is that no matter what, your villager says they love their new house whether it only has three furniture or you have spent hours on it. But that also does mean that it is optional how much effort you're willing to put in the home.
You just can't beat strolling around a town of your own design, collecting bugs and fish to further improvements. Ultimately what I really want is to take everything I've learned from designing rooms for frogs and take it back to my New Leaf town for my own personal use. If the two concepts are ever combined my loved ones will probably never see me again as I turn myself into a shut in, but for now this is a fantastic way to tide yourself over until that glorious day comes.
