Hallmark’s daytime talk show,Home & Family, has been missing from the lineup for months now. In its place, encores of Hallmark movies have been airing instead. But now there’s finally a conclusion to the hiatus and a date in mind for the series’ return. However, the show is going to look a little different now that it’s back. When it comes to Cameron Mathison, it didn’t take him long to recover from losing his Home & Family hosting job. After all, only twelve days after the final episode of Home & Family aired, Mathison joined the cast of the soap opera General Hospital and he has starred in the show ever since.

Candace Cameron Bure recently told Variety that she left Hallmark to join the new network Great American Family in order to create “wholesome” and “family-friendly” content. Best known for starring in Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise and annual Christmas movies, Candace exited the network in April. It seems all good things must come to an end…even the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family. Cristina Ferrare replaced Davis and then Matenopoulos replaced Ferrare in 2016. After initially airing on The Family Channel during the mid-‘90s, Home & Family was then broadcast by Fox Family Channel before finally winding up on Hallmark Channel. Given that Home & Family was on the air for so long and it moved between three different channels, it was easy to think that the show would survive just about anything. Unfortunately for everyone involved in television production, the vast majority of shows don’t last long assuming they even make it to the air, to begin with.

Crown Media and The Hallmark Channel have not made any statements about plans to replace “Home & Family” with another series.

Matenopoulos took over for Ferrare in 2016, and Steines abruptly exited in 2018, with Mathison stepping in to take his place. In addition, the series will only air for one hour each day instead of two hours, from 10 a.m. Originally among the family were Jamie Gwen , Candace Garvey , Mayita Dinos , Bob Golic, and The Carey Brothers .

Now the channel will be airing reruns of “The Golden Girls” in the canceled show’s timeslot.
